Are you an innovative and passionate payroll professional? You have an interest in numbers and logic games. Here is a stimulating opportunity full of great challenges for you: Payroll and HR specialist!  You will be responsible for the payroll process for about 500 operational and administrative employees with another colleague as well as some accounting-related projects.

Under the supervision of the Manager, Talent and Culture, you will be responsible for providing expertise in payroll processing as well as administrative support for the human resources team for talent management and the company's culture.

Pay

  • Proceed with the complete processing of employees' payroll (approximately 250 employees out of 500 total);
  • Process source deductions, taxable benefits and other deductions and make remittances;
  • Administer benefits, vacation, RRSP, pension fund, etc.;
  • Be available to answer questions from employees and managers in both English and French;
  • Communicate and manage the resolution of issues with the payroll provider in a diligent and proactive manner and act as a super-user;
  • Implement work tools that will optimize the way things are done;
  • Research, present and process the various grant applications (training, internship, salary, etc.).

Accounting

  • Calculate, update and monitor the various banks (vacation, sickness, etc.) and ensure their integrity in the payroll system;
  • Perform all month-end activities required for payroll, including weekly journal entries;
  • Generate and prepare payroll reports.

Compétences générales

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • DEP or DEC in accounting, administration or related field; or equivalent work/study combination
  • Have three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience in payroll preparation for the different provinces of Canada and with different types of profiles (scheduled, employees, etc.);
  • Asset: Experience working with collective agreements.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Excellent ability to pay attention to detail to ensure accuracy and thoroughness of work.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills;
  • Good oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write and communicate verbally with a variety of audiences.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaborate with colleagues at different levels.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands in order to organize and manage multiple projects/activities effectively and efficiently, while meeting deadlines.
  • Proficient in the MS Office suite and good comfort with payroll-related systems and technologies (asset: ADP Worforce Now, ADP Time and Attendance Management).

HIRING REQUIREMENTS

  • Bilingualism: Writing and oral communication skills, in both French and English**;
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current tax and Canadian payroll laws and regulations;
