Partnership with the Food Banks of Quebec (FBQ)

An essential partnership against food insecurity

Congebec, a Canadian leader in cold storage, is actively committed to fighting food insecurity and waste through its collaboration with Food Banks of Quebec (FBQ). By providing free storage and freezing space — a contribution valued at $185,000 in 2024 — Congebec helps preserve and redistribute hundreds of tons of perishable food every year.

Strategic Storage Capacity
Congebec provides access to its multi‑temperature facilities to ensure optimal preservation of high‑value frozen products. This logistical support significantly reduces food waste and facilitates redistribution to communities in need.

An Impressive Volume of Food Saved
Each month, this partnership helps channel a substantial volume of food from Congebec’s clients, directly supporting the growing demand for food assistance across Quebec.

Financial, Technological and Logistical Support
Beyond storage space, Congebec has developed a structured donation program and collaborated with RECYC‑QUÉBEC to create an innovative digital bridge that simplifies logistical coordination between donor companies and FBQ.

Expanded Sector Collaboration
Partners such as Groupe Bel Canada have joined the initiative, increasing the volume of recovered frozen food and strengthening the impact across the entire food supply chain.

A Recognized Initiative
This strategic partnership was honored at the 2024 DUX Grand Prix Awards for its contribution to reducing food waste. It represents a concrete, sustainable, and essential response to the rising demand for food assistance throughout Quebec.

Recover. Share. Feed. Together.

Food Banks of Quebec (FBQ) is a provincial network that channels and distributes food donations to the people who need them most.

The association brings together 32 independent regional members, often known as Moisson, which in turn support more than 1,200 local community organizations across Quebec.

Their mission is to support this network by increasing and sharing resources and expertise, ensuring access to nutritious food for vulnerable populations throughout the province.
