Job Description

The Director, Transportation Sales is an individual contributor role responsible for driving revenue growth through strategic relationship building, market expansion, and innovative sales strategies. Leveraging deep expertise in the transportation and supply chain industry, this role focuses on developing new business opportunities, strengthening key partnerships, and positioning the organization for long-term success in existing and emerging markets. 

Strategic Sales & Market Development 

  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to drive growth in transportation and logistics services 
  • Identify, evaluate, and pursue new market opportunities, including geographic and sector expansion 
  • Build and execute go-to-market plans aligned with business priorities 
  • Analyze market trends, competitive dynamics, and customer needs to inform strategic direction 

Relationship Building & Client Engagement 

  • Establish and cultivate strong, long-term relationships with key clients, prospects, and industry partners 
  • Act as a trusted advisor by understanding client supply chain challenges and delivering tailored solutions 
  • Lead high-value negotiations and contract discussions to secure sustainable, profitable business 
  • Maintain a strong external presence and network within the transportation and logistics industry 

Business Development 

  • Drive new business acquisition and expand existing accounts through a consultative sales approach 
  • Lead complex sales cycles, including RFPs, proposals, and solution presentations 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Transportation Operations and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful delivery 
  • Position the organization as a leader in logistics and supply chain solutions 

Industry Expertise & Thought Leadership 

  • Leverage in-depth knowledge of transportation modes (road, rail, ocean, air) and end-to-end supply chain 
  • Stay current on industry trends, innovations, and regulatory changes 
  • Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and networking forums 
  • Contribute to the development of innovative, value-added logistics solutions

General skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field (MBA is an asset)  
  • 10+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain, with a strong focus on sales and business development  
  • Proven track record of developing new markets and closing complex, strategic deals 
  • Bilingualism: English and French would be considered as an asset
