RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor / Chief Operating Engineer, as the Material Handling Equipment Mechanic you will:

  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, diagnose, and complete repairs on all types of electric material handling equipment like reach trucks, pallet jacks, order pickers, counterbalance and auxiliaries like clamp trucks and mobile slip sheeters.
  • Complete required documentation/ reports in the facility Maintenance Management System (Guide TI) to plan jobs, facilitate the creation of work orders to track all maintenance activities and generate and distribute the purchase orders for the supply of spares and services.
  • Spare parts inventory and management: maintain and organize the maintenance shop, maintain inventory of supplies, equipment, etc.
  • Evaluate and recommend the purchase of related equipment and supplies to his supervisor.
  • Coordinate with external contractors, as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all warehouse rules, policies, procedures, and standards are met, including HACCP, BRCGS standards and all Health and Safety Regulations and Food Safety programs.

General skills

TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • Studies in a related field is required.
  • At least two (3) years of experience in repair and maintenance of material handling equipment is required.
  • Experience with forklifts repairs will be considered an asset

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Demonstrated mechanical and technical aptitude.
  • Excellent ability to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong mechanical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills and electrical knowledge.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively and work as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize daily duties and tasks to be as effective and efficient as possible.
  • Effective communication skills for the purpose of relaying data, exchanging feedback, and providing clarification.
  • Ability to read and interpret diagrams, drawings, and schematics.
  • Proficiency using a variety of computer programs (Maintenance Management System, MS Office suite, Cloud documentation)
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

REQUIREMENTS FOR HIRING

  • Must be physically capable of performing the required duties and tasks, including working in cold and freezing temperatures (-18 to -25 degrees Celsius).
  • Must be always wearing personal protective equipment when required.
  • Available to perform overtime as needed.
