Job Description

We are searching for friendly, detail-oriented individuals to join us for the summer berry season at Congebec in Vancouver! The Customs Compliance role plays a critical function in our day-to-day process to execute the necessary documentation procedures in invoicing to comply with the requirements of our customs compliance program. This is a high paced role that requires great attention to detail, excellent follow through, and a process improvement mindset to identify and create process efficiencies.

These positions are seasonal from June through September. 

POSITIONS AVAILABLE:
1 position for Gloucester (264 Exit, no transit): Monday to Friday – 9 AM to 5:30 PM

2 position for Langley (200 St Exit, transit nearby): Various shifts between 6 AM to 9:30 PM, including weekend days

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Office and Inventory Supervisor, the Customer Service Representative (Shipping Coordinator) will have the primary responsibilities of:

  • Welcome drivers, visitors, and subcontractors
  • Assign the loading and unloading doors
  • Enter information into the computer system
  • Check transport documents, customs, HACCP, SQF, Customs paperwork, etc.
  • Check documents related to orders
  • Ensure compliance and enforcement with the policies, procedures, standards, and regulations in force in the warehouses (OH&S, BRC, HACCP, C-TPAT, etc.)
  • Coordinate transport with a US transportation team
  • Verify the identity of truckers, visitors, and service providers
  • Manage the visitor log
  • Apply the procedure for securing trailer trucks
  • Scan client documents
  • Verify inbound shipments for closure
  • Email management, scheduling appointments, answering customer inquiries, retrieving BOLs, COAs, and other documentation for shipments
  • Assist the Warehouse Supervisor and occasionally perform operational tasks
  • Perform other related duties

General skills

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a similar fast paced environment
  • Or equivalent combination of educational and professional experiences

REQUIRMENTS

  • Written and spoken English
  • Bilingual English and Spanish an asset
  • Good computer skills (MS-Office, e-mail, Internet Explorer, etc.)
  • Knowledge of OH&S standards
  • Knowledge of HACCP (an asset)
  • Knowledge of SQF (an asset)
  • Available for replacements on other shifts if required
  • Experience in a cold environment or in the food industry (an asset)
